Shai Linne accused Joel Osteen, Creflo Dollar, Benny Hinn, T.D. Jakes, Joyce Meyer, Paula White, Fred Price, Kenneth Copeland, Robert Tilton, Eddie Long, Juanita Bynum and Paul Crouch of being false teachers in the third single off his upcoming album, “Lyrical Theology Part 1.”
Lamp Mode Recordings released the song “Fal$e Teacher$” on Friday.
The Lamp Mode artist has called out prosperity—or health and wealth—gospel teachers before, just not to this degree. A decade after label-mate Timothy Brindle name dropped Hinn on “Faulty Doctrine,” Shai felt called to address the topic again.
Lamp Mode released the following video of the Soli Deo Gloria Fella explaining the track.
Shai detailed what inspired “Fal$e Teacher$” further to Wade-O Radio.
“[The prosperity gospel has] been embraced,” he said of how the teaching has ravaged the continent of Africa. “You have these rallies where literally over 100,000 people will come to hear these guys talk about prosperity. The people who are coming are impoverished like crazy and they’re buying into it thinking that this false theology is going to be their way out of poverty. They figure, ‘Hey, it must work because it’s working for these guys in America.’”
According to Celebrity Net Worth, Dollar is worth $27 million, Osteen $40 million and Hinn $42 million.
Shai told Wade-O Radio he hopes the track isn’t the main storyline of his latest project, but the fact that he put specific preachers on blast has sparked a buzz among the Christian community.
Another Lamp Mode artist who has Shai’s back about “Fal$e Teacher$” and—holding true to his nickname “Da Whistleblower”—isn’t afraid to name names is Stephen the Levite.
“I’ve always appreciated Shai’s willingness to talk about stuff because he feels like it’s the truth, he’s convinced of it because of what the scriptures say and he’s not going to be swayed because of persecution,” Stephen the Levite told Wade-O Radio. “He’s going to say what God put on his heart. I’m glad he’s putting the song out and I hope it does a lot of work for the Kingdom.”
Stephen the Levite spoke for all of Lamp Mode when he explained that rappers on the label write songs like “Fal$e Teacher$” in an attempt to help liberate those who have been deceived. The intent of such tracks is to open their eyes and help them find the real gospel.
While the artist prayed the song is a blessing to its listeners, he fully expected controversy.
“Whenever you put people’s names in [a song] some people start getting upset about stuff and they quote passages that are out of context about touching God’s anointed,” said Stephen the Levite. “These people that [Shai Linne is] mentioning aren’t God’s anointed anyway so it doesn’t apply and I hope that they see that.”
“Lyrical Theology Part 1,” the first of a three-part album series that Shai will release this year will drop on Tuesday, April 9. Whether or not “Fal$e Teacher$” will steal the spotlight from the remainder of the project remains to be seen.
